managing change

The ability to manage change continues to be the single greatest factor in predicting success in both the private and public sectors.

Managing change begins with an awareness of how we got to where we are today, what we look like today, and what we need to look like tomorrow. We include as much of the “system” as possible in change processes. People must understand the change process—both in how they impact it today, and what their roles and responsibilities will be after the change is implemented. They also need to know and understand how they will transform from the current state to the future state. In other words, people need to be led strategically throughout the change, rather than surrender to it after it has been implemented.

In assisting our clients manage change, COPE guides the organization toward developing a shared vision, collaboratively gathers and analyzes data to determine one or more outcomes, develops implementation strategies, teaches change agents and leaders how to build resilience in their organization, and then establishes metrics for evaluating the effects of change during and after implementation. Additionally, we assist our clients with the development of communication plans that ensure all levels of the organization are kept informed throughout the change process, especially those directly and indirectly impacted by the change.

History has shown us that organizations that are able to effectively manage change grow, prosper, and achieve MORE.
